Posing: Masculine - vs - Feminine

Masculine Posing:
Poses general used with men, which convey power and strength, dominence and other qualities of a man.
Feminine Posing:
Poses generaly used with women, which convey gracefulness, affection, delicacy and other qualities of a woman.

These terms may seem barbaric in the gender equality of the 21st centry. However, gender still plays a strong part in the posing of Portrait Photographs.

Posing a man in a feminine manner or a women in a masculine manner is typically not desired. However, it may be appropriate in some circumstances, for example when posing a business portrait of a female CEO you may want to consider using some masculine posing techniques as they help convey a felling of power and strength.

In general children are considered as neuter and may be posed in most masculin and feminine poses regaurdless of gender. I typically will lean towards the feminine poses with young children, but I love doing very masculine poses with little boys when they have formal clothing on.
